Muslim dreams of a cross

In 2011, I wanted to learn Russian so I went to a website to register for online learning. On that website, I found an advertisement that was a link to click on to know God’s plan for your life. I clicked the button, filled out the form and received a downloadable version of Matthew’s Gospel. At that time, I became distracted with other things and forgot about it.

A month later, my internet service stopped working. In that moment, I remembered what I had downloaded and began reading Matthew. When I came to the section about the sermon on the mountain, I began to have lots of questions.

My beliefs about Christianity were entirely based on what I had been taught as a Muslim. I thought that Christians believed everything (drinking, sex, etc) was permissible at all times. I did not realize that Christians believe that Jesus was God in human form, truly the Messiah.

I went back to the email with the download and replied with my questions. I came back home with answers, but they were opposite of what I had been taught.

I continued praying the Islamic prayers, but I found myself immersed in reading the Bible. To atone for that, I was also reading the Quran again.

One night before going to bed, I asked God to show me His true identity. In response, He gave me my first dream. In the dream I saw a big Quran. My immediate thought was happiness because I took it as an indication that Islam is the true path to God. However, when I looked in the opposite direction of the Quran, I saw a cross that was much bigger than the Quran and it was so bright. In my dream I began hugging the cross.

I woke up from that dream and thought to myself that it must have been from the devil. Because of this encounter, I started to compare the Bible to the Quran. The Bible says, “Love your enemies and bless those who curse you.” The Quran says, “Whoever has assaulted you, assault him in the same way.” I thought how can I be convinced that God wrote both of these books? I was really at crossroads and running out of patience.

For the second time, I asked the Lord to reveal his identity to me before I went to sleep. To avoid the devil from giving me dreams that would lead me in the wrong direction, I played an audio version of the Quran while I was sleeping.

This time, I dreamed that I was in a garden and there were holes in the ground all around me. There was one door in the dream that was green and had a cross on it. The only ones who were able to pass through the door were those who were holding a Bible.

When I woke up from this dream, I began reading the Bible and read the verse about making every effort to enter through the narrow door. Nonetheless, I continued praying the Islamic prayers five times each day according to the custom. But, I started to see that something is wrong with the Quran. I had a lot of concern about changing my faith because of the consequences I knew I would receive including being exiled by my family.

While pondering this decision, I asked God to give me just one more indication that following Jesus is the true way. I promised that if He gave me one more sign I would follow him my whole life no matter what consequences I face. God gave me another dream. This time I was standing next to the chief captain of our navy. He told me that I was wasting my life trying to choose which way to follow. In my dream, I told him that I am going to follow Jesus.

What has happened since is a much bigger testimony. The Lord has given me incredible boldness to share Jesus.

I also immediately began sharing with my family. My father told me to take my stuff and get out of the house. I didn’t have any money or place to live, not even a bag to put my stuff in. But the Lord has sustained me and by His grace I am privileged to know Him. When I left the house, I left them a Bible. When I visited after 10 years, it was still in the same place I put it. I believe that God will deal with my family situation in His own way.   more information
