Muslims are not forbidden to congratulate Christians

Muslim World League head disagrees with Zakir Naik over “prohibition of wishing Merry Christmas”.

Muslim World League head Sheikh Dr Mohammed Al-Issa holds the view that Islam does not prohibit Muslims from exchanging Christmas greetings with Christians.

Al-Issa particularly reiterated that there was no text in Sharia law that disallowed Muslims from extending greetings to Christians.

He also clarified that there was no religious text that prohibited such greetings, and when a Muslim greeted another non-Muslim on their religious celebration, this did not mean he/she is acknowledging another faith.

In fact, Al-Issa indicated that extending best wishes to non-Muslims who are celebrating their religious festivity “is an apparent interest that serves the reputation of Islam.”

“The purpose of these greetings is to promote co-existence and harmony in a world that is in dire need of that,” justified head of the Makkah-based non-governmental organisation (NGO) which aims to clarify the true message of Islam.

To re-cap, Zakir had on last Friday (Dec 23,2023) Zakir posted a photo caption on his Twitter page which is meant to insinuate that “if a Muslim wishes Merry Christmas, then he/she is admitting that God/Allah is the biological father to Jesus/Isa”.

Good news

The angels announced to the shepherds in Luke 2: 10-11: ” I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”

What’s the good news?

God loves (Hosea 14:4), seeks (Genesis 3:9 / Ezekiel 34:12) and visits us (Luke 1:68).

He does not impose himself on us, but he waits until we open the door for him (Revelation 3:20) or we turn to him (Isaiah 1:4).

Jesus died on the cross and rose again for our transgressions towards his life-enhancing instructions (John 3:16).

The Heavenly Father and Jesus come to us personally through the Holy Spirit (John 13:20). We are changed to the person God created us to be.

The key question is if we are open to God and if he knows us (Matthew 7:23). He knows us when we reveal ourselves to him.

Christmas becomes a national holiday in Iraq

With one voice the Iraqi parliament decided Christmas will now also be a national holiday in Iraq.

It was Patriarch Sako who proposed to President Salih on October 17 that a bill should be introduced in parliament to recognize Christmas as a public holiday throughout Iraq.

On this occasion, Salih also reaffirmed his intention to encourage the return of the displaced Christians to their areas of origin in every way possible.

President Salih is a Kurdish engineer who graduated from the UK.

The Christmas star 2020

On December 21, 2020 there will be an unusual planetary constellation in the sky. It should be on the evening of December 21 at exactly 7:21 p.m. CET. In the evening hours there will be a so-called Jupiter-Saturn conjunction. This means that both planets are approaching each other in the sky, are only 0.1 degrees apart and thus seem to join into “one bright star”. What is special about it is that the two planets last came as close to each other in 1623 as they did in 2020.  Continue reading The Christmas star 2020
