Dubai safer for Jews than Europe

While Jews in Dubai and the UAE can wear their kippah openly without fear, they dare to do it less and less in Europe.

Last week’s Hanukkah celebrations in Dubai and national efforts to support tolerance and coexistence in the United Arab Emirates have created a reality where Jews are more welcome and safer in the UAE than in Europe.

In most European countries you have to think twice about wearing a kippah because it is risky. You could be spat at, yelled at, arbitrarily attacked, or even murdered.

It also shows that it’s not that difficult to have tolerance. In most Asian countries you can wear a kippah and feel safe.

The Pope takes a step towards the Shiite world

In March, Francis wants to be the first Pope to visit Iraq. He knows Muslims must be won if religious minorities can have a future. He is of course aware of the afflictions and persecution that Christians under the Muslim world face, not at least in Iraq. At the same time, however, he wants to help strengthen that delicate plant of Islamic self-reflection that is currently sprouting.

The Islamic age of an increasing radicalization, which began in 1979 with the Islamic Revolution in Iran and the storming of Sunni fanatics on the Great Mosque of Mecca, has slowed down in the Middle East following the experience with IS. More and more Muslim leaders and ordinary believers want a new direction.

According to reports, a visit to Iraq would also include a meeting with senior Shiite representatives. If possible, a similar document to that of Abu Dhabi, which Francis published with Grand Imam Ahmad al-Tayyeb in spring 2019, could be signed. This document had positive effects for the Christian minorities in the Muslim world.

Praying with the Praise of Zacharias (Part 4)

Luke 1:71: He saved us from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, sometimes it seems like you are not saving us from the hands of the enemy. I think of all the persecuted Christians. Or the people who died as martyrs. At the same time, however, Jesus also says in Matthew 10:28: “Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.”

The real enemy are those who destroy our soul, our personality. And suddenly we notice that this can happen to us too, even if we are not being persecuted outwardly. The real enemy is where our trust in God is destroyed.

For this there is again the promise of Jesus in John 10:29: ” My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand”.

Lord, you save us from all the people who hate us and want to destroy us. And if we get in the position that people harass and persecute us, then you are there and help us when we trust in you. That is how the martyrs experienced it. This is what countless Christians who are persecuted today experience. In such situations you always give the strength to love people who are driven by hate, so that we can forgive them because they do not know what they are doing.

We want to ask you for this strength from you so that we can say: “He saved us from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us.”

Pro-Islam banners on buses

In at least five cities in England large banners have appeared on public buses reading: “Muhammad Dawat-e-Islami, a mercy to the entire creation.

The charity spokesman told Coventry Telegraph: Dawat-e-Islami UK put the ads on buses to enlighten the public with a peaceful message about the Prophet Muhammad being a mercy to the entire creation. It’s the first time it’s been done, and there are a lot of Muslims in that area and we’ve had a fantastic reaction from the public.

The question is to what extent Muhammad is mercy? Does this formulation not raise Muhammad to a divine status? Wouldn’t the divine Koran be Islam’s offer of mercy from a Muslim perspective?

When the Asia Bibi case came up in Pakistan, Muslim protesters demanded execution for blasphemy. What she supposedly said that Jesus was the true prophet of God was not a statement about God, but about Mohammed. Since this is called blasphemy, Muhammad attains divine status in practical matters.

In sura 33,36 the decisions of Muhammad are seen on the same level as those of Allah himself. Whoever has not followed them has left the right path. Mohammed seems to be not just a prophet.

The Christmas star 2020

On December 21, 2020 there will be an unusual planetary constellation in the sky. It should be on the evening of December 21 at exactly 7:21 p.m. CET. In the evening hours there will be a so-called Jupiter-Saturn conjunction. This means that both planets are approaching each other in the sky, are only 0.1 degrees apart and thus seem to join into “one bright star”. What is special about it is that the two planets last came as close to each other in 1623 as they did in 2020.  Continue reading The Christmas star 2020

More and more refugees find Jesus in South Africa

“I know a lot of refugees who want to become Christians, but they are too scared,” said Zawadi. Zawadi’s decision to follow Christ pleased her husband David, who had prayed for his wife for ten years.

Zawadi’s husband had been a Christian for some time and he attended a refugee congregation in the city. But for long time he did not experience real discipleship. “Many churches are simply interested to have a good and funny weekly worship experience,” explain the Yngsdals.

“But many visitors leave the service every week spiritually starved and therefore without the supernatural strength that is necessary to life a changed life.”

Discipleship is when the leader orients himself to the needs of his people and not the other way around. Jesus called to build people up and provide them. He says in Matthew 28:19: Go to everyone and make them to people, who are ready to learn from me every day.
